Google Catalogs

Google Catalogs

By Wendy Boswell, About.com

Tired of catalogs jamming up your mailbox? Try Google Catalog Search, a great Google feature that allows you "search and browse mail-order catalogs online." At the time of this writing, Google had over 6,660 catalogs in its index. A few categories include:

  • Apparel and Accessories: Abercrombie and Fitch, Lands End, J.Crew, and L.L. Bean are all included here.
  • Food and Gourmet: Search through Baskets, Beer and Wine, Cheese, and many others.
  • Toys and Hobbies: Hearthsong, Legos, and lots of model trains. Perfect for that hard to find item.
  • Home and Garden: My personal favorite. Browse through Crate and Barrel, Gump's, or Williams and Sonoma.

These catalog listings have been scanned in, and you are provided with a searchable interface and buttons that virtually turn the pages. You can also search the catalog itself, and for the most part, most catalogs include the link to their online home page. Try the Advanced Catalog Search to drill down through the top categories, and search for a particular catalog.
